About Devil Resources

Devil Resources Limited (DRL) is a private Australian based energy company exploring for sub-surface He, H2 and geothermal resources in Tasmania and the company has applied for several exploration licenses on the island. Onshore Tasmania has excellent potential to host both geothermal and sub-surface Helium and Hydrogen resources. Much of Tasmania is also underlaid by thick sequences of thrusted Ultramafic rocks which also have a good potential for CO2 sequestration.

DRL is building an exploration portfolio consisting of both geothermal and H2 & He prospects.

DRL has three H2/He exploration applications lodged over (~5,000 sq km) and in NE Tasmania, the company has an approved application of the 2000 sq km ‘Tamar’ Hot Sedimentary Aquifer (HSA) geothermal exploration permit. This is a hot wet rock geothermal system, different to a Hot Dry Rock (HDR) or Enhanced Geothermal System (EGS)

DRL’s founders are Mick Small and Hamish Gordon, with fellow technical director Dr Dave Bennett, all experienced oil and gas professionals.

Within Tasmania, there are several exploration wells, of which two 1990’s ones sampled natural H2 and Helium in the subsurface (He-5% and H2 6.8% in Shittim-1 mud gas samples). Much of Tasmania is underlaid by Early Cambrian Ultramafics which have a high H2 production potential, plus Granites producing Helium via radioactive decay.

The company anticipates grant of the exploration licenses in September 2024.

Geothermal exploration stalled in Australia following the collapse of Geodynamics in 2013 which had taken over KUTh Energy, which had defined an prospective hot-wet geothermal province in NE Tasmania related to Devonian Granites. Geothermal Exploration is currently undergoing as renaissance in Australia, due to advances in drilling technology and geothermal energy generation.
